Stephen Cunnane and his team
At the cutting edge of knowledge in its field, the Sherbrooke team addressed the international scientific community in the January 2016 issue of the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences journal. The article by Professor Cunnane and his colleagues traces the evolution of the study of brain metabolism and its link with the development of various neuropathologies. In particular, he explores the effect of a change in the use of fuel in the brain on the development of, among other things, Alzheimer’s disease. He is also interested in different ways of circumventing the degradation associated with aging by using alternative fuels for the brain. This review of recent research findings should guide several new clinical studies.
